Brook House was opened in March 2009, and is located about half a mile from Tinsley House, on the south perimeter of Gatwick Airport. There are 426 bed spaces available for single males only.
The centre is run on behalf of UKBA by the private security firm Group 4 Securicor (G4S), who recently bought out Global Solutions Ltd (GSL). G4S is the largest security services company in the UK, with around 40,000 employees. They do everything from transporting currency to de-mining, as well as their interests in both prisons and IRCs, both here and internationally.
Brook House will be operated as a kind of sister centre to Tinsley, with all detainees initially being received at Brook House, with some then moved down to Tinsley. There will be no women or children held at Brook House.
