In our 25th birthday year, we launch our Annual Review ‘Making Connections’. Read Refugee Tales patron Ali Smith’s tribute to the charity ‘GDWG is now the age of a young adult, and such a fine person that young adult is, out in the world, knowing the world’s cruelties and vicissitudes well, and meeting them with energy and determination and commitment and kindness’.

Read about our work in 2019 – a year in review – through statistics, case studies and in reports from the Chair of the Board, the Director and Treasurer.

The work of GDWG volunteers over 25 years of making connections is celebrated through portraits and extracts from interviews by photographer Simon Way. Simon’s work has a quality of storytelling exploring the relationship between the subject and their environment. Simon spent many hours with visitors hearing about their experiences and writes ‘I am inspired by the level of determination, guts and belief that their work will act as a tool for change’  (see his work – simonway.co.uk).

We hope you enjoy our Annual Review and hope that in the next 25 years a world without detention will mean our work is no longer necessary. Thank you for your support.
