The dinner table is a space in many households where we come together to talk, laugh, commemorate, debrief, listen – and eat! The dinner table as a place of communal gathering and for sharing food was the seed of an idea to create a GDWG recipe book and so Tales From Our Table germinated! The recipes come from the GDWG community - from those with lived experience of immigration detention, from volunteers, visitors, trustees and more. Our hope was that the recipe book might encourage conversation over a shared meal with friends and family about the people behind the recipes as well as immigration detention in the UK.
The proceeds of the book contribute towards the cost of supermarket vouchers for people who have been released from detention.
